In just a few short weeks my first child will be heading to Kindergarten! ?If you have been following along for a few months I've been telling you about our preparation and Graham's excitement. ?Well, I can't believe the days are just about here. ?With that said, I have been jumping on every single kids clothes deal I find so that we are ready before it is too late. ?Believe it or not, Graham was actually made fun of in preschool for an adorable frog raincoat he wore (at age 3). ?I still can't get over the fact that a three year old can get made fun of for that by other 3 year olds, but let's just say I am hypersensitive to what we are purchasing for him and he has picked out 99.9% of it. ?I am loving this kids style! We were so blessed to participate in a Cookies Kids shoppertunity and it was fun stretching our $30 as far as I possibly could. ?If you are not familiar with Cookies Kids it is an online kids fashion retailer that has several brands to choose from at discounted prices. ?They are actually celebrating 40 years of business this year! ?Check out a little more about the company:
In 1972, a young man named Cookie and his brother Marvin went into business together. They rented a 1600 square foot store in Jamaica, Queens, fixed it up, bought inventory and Summer and Fall, and opened a day after Thanksgiving with a full stock of holiday toys. The toys were a success and they put the extra money toward buying children's clothing for the next season. When that did well, they bought more clothing. The business was on it's way.
As the brothers Cookie, Marvin and Sonny, who had come in as a third partner in the business, began to open new stores in new locations, inventory expanded. Besides the latest fashions, our customers wanted shoes, toys, backpacks and accessories and we were prepared to deliver.
By the late 1990's there were six superstores throughout the NYC area, and though they previously had different names, by that time they were all named Cookie's Kids. Also in the late '90s came an important addition to Cookie's Kids' inventory: school uniforms. It was the steady success in uniform sales that paved the way for founding CookiesKids.com in 2007, which originally sold uniforms and soon after the entire Cookie's Kids Inventory.
I love to shop with a company that has a long standing history. ?It generally means that you are going to receive quality and great customer service. ?That definitely was true for our first shopping experience with Cookies Kids. ?The site was organized well with categories that were broken down by sizes. ?It was very helpful for me to select the size category and then be able to narrow it down by what I was looking for (bottoms, tops, etc). ?Even some of the categories were narrowed down by specifics like Tops: tees, polos, woven. ?This really was a time saver for me! ?Once I found the category I was looking for I could then narrow it down by price. ?In no time I was able to find items that Graham liked that were on sale so that we could stretch our money.
Overall, I think we did really well with our $30. ?We ended up with two short-sleeved polo shirts ($4.99 and $5.99), long-sleeved hoodie, and pair of jeans ($14.99 slack set). ?Shipping is only $5 on every order no matter how much you get so I ended up paying $30.97 total. ?I think that is a nice deal on back to school clothes! ?The selection was great with several items listed under $5. ?Because Graham picked out the clothes he feels a sense of pride when he wears them! ?He actually asked to wear one of the shirts to church on Sunday {so cute}!
While Graham will not have to worry about school uniforms (honestly, I think that would be easier), Cookies Kids would be a great resource for those of you who need them. ?I mean, polos for under $5! ?Seriously, you could stock up on the colors that you needed and be set for the year.
So, here's to a great first year of school for my
