TAMPA, Fla. (AP) ? Billy Cundiff redeemed himself for a poor day kicking, booting a 41-yard field goal with 3 seconds remaining to give the Washington Redskins a 24-22 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

Cundiff missed three earlier attempts, including a 31-yarder that wound have put the Redskins (2-2) up by two scores early in the fourth quarter. He also missed twice in the first half, but was on the money after Robert Griffin III marched his team into position for the winning score.

Tampa Bay (1-3) wiped out an 18-point deficit to go ahead 22-21 on Connor Barth's third field goal, a 47-yarder with 1:42 remaining.

But Griffin wasn't finished. He completed three straight passes to move the Redskins from their own 20 to the 41, then ran for 15 yards to the 26. Two plays, Cundiff kicked the winner.

Kenyan Troops Reportedly Route Al Shabaab from its Last Somali Stronghold

The city of Kismayo, long under control of Al Shabaab militias, has been taken over by Kenyan troops. ?Initial reports indicated there had been no heavy fighting. For the past several weeks, Kenyan fighter jets and naval ships have been pounding Kismayu, steadily taking out Shabab positions and preparing the ground for a final assault. According to residents in the town, one of Somalia?s biggest, Shabab fighters had been quietly fleeing, avoiding a showdown with the much better armed Kenyan military. A Shabab-maintained Twitter account, however, said Shabab fighters are still in Kismayu. ?KDF cowards attempt to attack Kismayu from the sea but the courageous mujahedeen thwart their attempts,? said a message late Friday morning. ?Kismayu remains firmly in the hands of the mujahedeen, stay tuned for updates.? Kenya?s involvement in Somalia is the most aggressive step it has ever taken against another country. Publicly, Kenyan officials said they needed to invade Somalia to protect their borders and the first troops rolled in last year. Privately, they acknowledged that Somalia?s relentless chaos was hindering Kenya?s fast-growing economy, and control of the coastline would allow Kenya to move ahead with an ambitious plan to build a new port on the Indian Ocean, not far from the Somali border. It was not clear what is going to happen next. Kismayu has been a complicated place to rule, with several major clans competing for influence and significant port fees to fight over. Still, most analysts seem to think that this agreement will have very little effect on the ground. ?On Thursday, Mr. Bashir and Mr. Kiir emerged to announce that they would demilitarize the border ? a step that had been agreed to in principle last year but was almost instantly violated when Sudan began a brutal counterinsurgency campaign in the Nuba Mountains, near the border. The two sides also committed to resuming cross-border trade and allowing citizens from each side to move freely. Benjamin Netanyahu?s UN Speech: Red Lines and a Cartoon Bomb

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave a stirring address to the UN General Assembly warning about the dangers of an Iranian nuclear weapon, and obliquely calling on President Obama to set a firm ?redline? on the nuclear program. Alas, his argument may have been undermined by the cartoonish prop he brought along. ?Netanyahu told the U.N. General Assembly that unless stopped by the international community, Iran could have enough enriched uranium for a nuclear weapon by next summer. He did not threaten to attack Iran, and he said that the United States and Israel are pursuing a united effort to stop the Islamic Republic from developing a weapon. Near the end of his speech, Netanyahu held up a placard showing a cartoon-like bomb that divided Iran?s efforts into three stages. He said that Iran has completed the first stage, developing sufficient low-enriched uranium, and that it is nearing completion of the second stage, the further enrichment of the uranium to weapons grade. He said that stage could be completed as soon as next summer and that the third stage, preparing an actual weapon, could then be accomplished within ?a few months, possibly a few weeks. He said the effort to build a detonator for the highly enriched uranium would be relatively simple and easily concealed. 'Hotel Transylvania' Reviews, Green Day, No Doubt & More: The ...

Another week, another round of unimpressed critics.

"Hotel Transylvania," "Won't Back Down," "House at the End of the Street" and "Taken 2" were among the offerings that didn't exactly earn stellar reviews. (Lest you think these folks hate everything, "Looper" and "Pitch Perfect" fared much better.) These movies all faltered in different ways, providing a number of lessons for aspiring filmmakers and Hollywood heavyweights alike.

In music, it was a rough week for genre-defining titans. Both Green Day and No Doubt's latest efforts were met with a lukewarm reception, though No Doubt seemed to be on the receiving end of the harsher criticism. Why so serious? Turns out folks found No Doubt's disc to be a bit on the empty side, all production and not much heart. As for Green Day, the band's evolution into a corporate favorite -- Billie Joe Armstrong's public meltdown and stint in rehab notwithstanding -- has alienated fans who remember their punk days. Lupe Fiasco's message-heavy album didn't exactly make much of a positive impression either.

• 'House At The End Of The Street'

It?s not satire, it doesn?t play on two levels like Starship Troopers, it?s just shit. Still, I almost encourage you to seek it out. • 'Taken 2'

  Writing in <em>Time Out</em>, Tom Huddleston panned Neeson's thriller sequel: <blockquote><a href="http://www.timeout.com/film/reviews/92047/taken-2.html">?Taken 2? is a cynical, contemptuous film whose sole reason for existing appears to be to squeeze the pockets of anyone who enjoyed the first movie. Don?t give it the satisfaction.</a></blockquote>

• 'Won't Back Down'

  This film seems like a really good try: <blockquote><a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/gog/movies/wont-back-down,1213163/critic-review.html">The one-step-forward, two-steps-back nature of collaborative reform doesn?t lend itself to a climax featuring plucky heroes wearing green and big bad union guys wearing red. Writer-director Daniel Barnz choreographs that sequence to maximize nail-biting and stirring emotion. But by that time, ?Won?t Back Down? has become so didactic that viewers are likely to feel less uplifted than lectured.</a></blockquote>

• 'Hotel Transylvania'

  The children's movie did not impress Newsday's Rafer Guzman: <a href="http://www.newsday.com/entertainment/movies/hotel-transylvania-review-horror-not-so-funny-1.4043212"><blockquote>"Hotel Transylvania," a 3-D animated feature in which Count Dracula (voiced by Adam Sandler) manages a resort for persecuted monsters, feels like a string of jokes without a story. That might be better than the other way around, but this Sony Pictures Animation production ends up feeling less like a children's movie and more like a disposable summer comedy.</blockquote></a>

• No Doubt - 'Push & Shove'

  No Doubt seems to have lost their way, according to the <em>Boston Globe</em>: <blockquote><a href="http://articles.boston.com/2012-09-25/arts/34035857_1_push-band-foursome">It?s not a matter of everybody fighting for their own ideas at the group?s expense; just the opposite, in fact, as it sounds like every last detail was worked out through numbing compromise. The band has rarely sounded this faceless, with the indiscriminate, locked-in sheen of a producer-driven act instead of the fused idiosyncrasies of a supposedly inspired foursome.</a></blockquote>

Iran vows enemies will not survive

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) ? An Iranian general has said that his country's enemies will not survive if they attack Iran's nuclear sites.

A Friday report by the semiofficial ISNA news agency quotes Gen. Farzad Esmaili, chief of air defense, as saying "we vow our enemies will not survive," if they attack Iran's nuclear sites.

The nuclear sites are a symbol of pride for Iran, he said, adding that "we will defend our dignity with our lives and blood."

The remarks come a day after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged the world to draw a clear "red line" to stop Iran's nuclear program.

Israel has not ruled out military action against Iran's nuclear facilities.

Tehran denies the West's charge that it is pursuing nuclear weapons. It says its nuclear activities are for peaceful purposes only.

Vogue publisher to open cafe outpost in Dubai

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) ? Vogue's fashion-loving fans will soon have a chance to drink in the magazine's aura at a new cafe in Dubai.

The glossy's global publisher, Conde Nast International, said Tuesday that it expects to open the Vogue Cafe in the glitzy Gulf emirate's largest shopping mall by the end of the year.

It will be the company's first such cafe in the Middle East, where luxury fashion labels such as Louis Vuitton, Burberry and Chanel are extremely popular among the region's well-heeled shoppers.

"The expatriate community and the local Emirati community are very conscious of brands," said Stuart Nielsen, director of Conde Nast's restaurant division. "People always love to eat and drink, and we see an opportunity because they love fashion."

The cafe will be surrounded by high-end fashion and shoe stores in Dubai Mall. The sprawling shopping center is located at the foot of the world's tallest skyscraper, the 2,717 foot-tall (828 meter) Burj Khalifa, which is already home to a swanky hotel and several restaurants designed by Giorgio Armani.

Contemporary European food will be on the Vogue Cafe menu, but no alcohol will be served, Nielsen said.

Drinks, however, will be available at another Conde Nast outlet designed to cater to male fans of its magazines. The publisher expects to open a bar based around GQ magazine in one of Dubai's high-end hotels next year.

English-language versions of both magazines are available in the Middle East, though Conde Nast does not publish local versions of either.

The publisher is partnering with a Dubai-based firm called Inspired Group on the cafe and bar. Nielsen declined to discuss the financial terms of the partnership.

Conde Nast opened a similar cafe in Moscow in 2004. It has since opened two other establishments tied to its brands in the Russian capital.

The company is planning to open another GQ Bar in Istanbul this year, and has signed deals for Conde Nast establishments in Bangkok and Singapore, Nielsen said. It is also considering opening cafes in Mideast cities closer to Dubai, including Kuwait City and the Emirati capital, Abu Dhabi.

Besides Vogue and GQ, Conde Nast's titles include The New Yorker, Wired and Vanity Fair.

Conde Nast International, which publishes international versions of the American magazines, set up its restaurant division in 2010. It publishes more than 120 magazines in 24 international markets.

The most bizarre thing about this two-headed creature: the heads aren't side by side. The snake has one head on each end of its long, slithery body, and both heads seem able to control it. Two heads. Two tongues. Four eyes. That'll keep you up at night.

Workers found the smallish snake with the freakish look near the home of Savanna Logan and her brother Preston, and handed it over to them. The two have been showing it to their classmates at school, according to Fox 8 News.

Two-headed snakes are not unheard of. According to National Geographic, the heads are formed similar to the way Siamese twins develop. Typically, two-headed snakes are side by side, not like the one cared for by these kids.

The high school biology department at Ware Shoals High School identified the creature as a rough earth snake. Luckily, even with two heads, this kind of snake, which grows to about 10 inches at most, is considered relatively harmless, feasting on slugs and snails.

The kids told Fox 8 they each had a name they wanted for it: Preston thought Billy Bob. Savannah wants to call it Oreo.

Marathon running could trigger pulmonary edema development in the lungs

ScienceDaily (Sep. 2, 2012) ? A new study has found evidence that marathon running could trigger pulmonary edema, where fluid builds up in the lungs.

The study will be presented Monday (Sept. 3, 2012) at the European Respiratory Society's Annual Congress in Vienna.

Despite mounting evidence of the link between strenuous exercise and pulmonary edema, experts still debate whether the two factors are linked. Researchers from the United States and Italy aimed to investigate the link by assessing whether running a marathon triggers pulmonary edema which causes breathlessness, severe cough and even heart attacks or respiratory failure in serious cases.

The team analysed 26 runners who had completed the 2011 Steamtown Marathon in the USA. They took chest radiographs of the runners the day before the race and then at 19, 56 and 98 minutes after the race. By monitoring these different stages, the researchers were able to ensure that any increase in blood volume would return to normal, so they could objectively assess the level of edema.

Three readers evaluated the radiographs to interpret the image. Two readers were experts in reading chest films, a third was a general radiologist. They weren't told which radiographs were taken before or after the race, but they scored each image on the level of edema present so that the total score ranged from 0 (no edema) to 8 (severe edema). The edema scores from each reader was averaged.

About 50% of runners had some level of pulmonary edema at about 20-minutes post-race. 20% of those runners had moderate to severe pulmonary edema. Pulmonary edema was still present 1 hour after the marathon was completed.

Women were at much higher risk compared to men in the development of pulmonary edema. There was also no relation between marathon time and the development of pulmonary edema, suggesting that the development of edema is prevalent across all abilities.

Lead author, Dr Gerald Zavorsky from the Marywood University, USA, said: "Marathon running is linked to an increased risk of pulmonary edema, and it seems that women are at higher risk than men regardless of marathon finishing time. While pulmonary edema can be a negative consequence of marathon running, regular exercise can also keep you fit and healthy. We do not yet know the impact of this finding on long-term health of runners."

The article said it was the Obama administration?s ?head-in-the-sand performance? on Iran that had convinced Israel that it is better to strike sooner rather than later. ?Not only is there waning confidence that Mr. Obama is prepared to take military action on his own, but there?s also a fear that a re-elected President Obama will take a much harsher line on an Israeli attack than he would before the first Tuesday in November.?

Burton expanded on his comments with ABC Affiliate KGO, saying, "If you're not telling the truth, you're lying. Joseph Goebbels' concept was the big lie. If you tell it enough, people will think it's the truth."

President Obama's campaign rejected Burton's comments just hours before their convention kicked off.

"That obviously doesn't reflect the views of the campaign," said Obama for America National Press Secretary Ben LaBolt. "That doesn't have any place in the political discourse here in Charlotte."

The Republican Jewish Coalition also condemned Burton's remarks. "John Burton ought to know better than to bring the Nazis and their victims into our current political debates, but apparently the offense such remarks cause to Holocaust survivors and their families are of less concern to him than the prospect of partisan gain," the coalition said.

Burton's comments come one day after two California delegates were involved in a drunken incident at their Charlotte hotel. The police were called to the Blake Hotel and one of the delegates ended up in the hospital. The other delegate was sent home.
